Before systems offered support, Black communities built their own.
Community is the infrastructure of Black history. When doors were closed, communities created new
entrances. When resources were limited, neighbors shared what they had.
Community is where traditions are passed down and where leadership is trained. It’s also where resilience becomes collective, and the kind of strength you can’t build alone.
Today we honor the communities that made survival possible, and the people who showed up consistently, quietly and with love.
